Mercedes to take more medium tyres for Spa - Belgian GP tyre selection
Mercedes have gone against the grain in terms of tyre choice for the Belgian Grand Prix as they opted for two extra sets of medium compound tyres, with the majority of the field opting for nine or ten soft compound tyre sets.
The Silver Arrows are two of just three drivers to choose four sets of medium tyres as Lando Norris of McLaren will run the same tyre setup over the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. Mercedes will have eight sets of soft compound tyres which have been the most popular with the majority choosing to run ten sets of the soft compound.
Mercedes' rivals, Ferrari and Red Bull will both run 1 set of hard compounds, 2 medium and 10 soft compounds and will be joined by Renault and Haas. Several teams have chosen to run nine soft compound tyre sets and add an extra medium set for the race at Spa.
George Russell will be the only driver in the entire field to have an extra pair of hard compound tyres choosing to run one less of the medium and soft tyres respectively.
