Sergio Perez feels he has "maximised" SportPesa Racing Point's results in 2019
Sergio Perez believes he has "maximised" SportPesa Racing Point's results most of the time during the 2019 Formula 1 season. The Mexican driver crashed out of the German Grand Prix while his teammate almost clinched a podium, but elsewhere Perez has been fairly consistent.
Perez sits in 16th in the Formula 1 world championship, ahead of only Romain Grosjean, Antonio Giovinazzi and both Williams drivers. Looking at the table, you might expect Perez to be further up, but he's impressed with his performances in the first half of the season.
"It’s true this first half of the season hasn’t been perfect, especially at the German Grand Prix. But all the way up to here [in Hungary], I think that I’ve been driving pretty well while maximizing the team's results most of the time," Perez told F1i.
"So, I feel very pleased with my first half of the season but what happened in Germany definitely tasted a bit less good. It was the first mistake that I did this year, and I look forward not to do it again and to get those points back in the second half of the season."
