Marko: Formula 1 has "nothing to fear" with regards to Formula E competition
Formula E is certainly a series on the rise with it being in its sixth edition. However, Helmut Marko is adamant Formula 1 has nothing to worry about when it comes to the all-electric series rivalling it.
Formula E served up plenty of drama in the 2018/19 with eight different drivers winning the first eight races. Jean-Eric Vergne was the first driver to win two races and he went on to win a third as he claimed the Formula E title.
On the other hand, many believe Formula 1 has become too predictable with the top three teams holding a monopoly over the rest of the grid.
Formula E has been granted World Championship status as of next season but Helmut Marko doesn't believe Formula 1 should fear its emergence.
"Formula 1 will continue to exist as a show and as a sport, within a reasonable budget of course," Marko said in an interview with Kleine Zeitung.
"And Formula 1 must continue to take the lead in future technologies."
