Normally fans of Formula 1 teams can express their love through t-shirts, jackets and caps. Renault now also sells masks as merchandise.

This makes Renault the first Formula 1 team to sell masks in their own colour scheme. As we expect from the French team, the mouthpieces are coloured black, with yellow stripes through the middle and the Renault logo on the side.

The mouthpieces are for sale for 4,99 euro each, but also in bundles. A 'week pack' of five pieces is for sale for 24,95 euro, while a 'family pack' of ten pieces is for sale for 49,99 euro. Renault does not want to give the ailing parent company a helping hand with the new merchandise, because all profits on the caps will be donated to charity.

Effective against the coronavirus

According to the French team, fans can also use the mouthguard without worries. Renault reports that the masks comply with the latest AFNOR/Apave hygiene regulations. The reusable mouthguards are there to protect against COVID-19 and will be 90% effective for four hours in a row. After that the mask will need to be washed.

Fans of Formula 1 will not be able to use the maks on a circuit for the time being. All eight Grands Prix currently on the calendar will be driven without an audience. If the conditions are safe enough, Liberty Media will see if this can be changed.
