It was an emotional weekend for Lewis Hamilton. In the fight against racism he took the lead to kneel at the national anthem as a driver and drove around in a black livery. He didn't get dressed up in cold clothes.

''Today was an important moment for me and all the people who work for and hope for change. For a more equal and just society. I may get criticism in the media and elsewhere, but this fight is about equality, not politics or promotion. For me it was an emotional and moving chapter in the progress of making F1 a more diverse and inclusive sport," Hamilton said at Instagram.

Hamilton says nothing about people who stand

The Brit was not alone in his fight against racism. Formula 1 launched the #WeRaceAsOne project this week to combat inequality and Mercedes also sent a clear signal with a black livery. Yet not everyone was right behind Hamilton, as six drivers remained on their knees. However, Hamilton didn't say anything about that.

''I want a better future for our generation and those after us. There is so much that needs to be done. Nobody is perfect, but if we all do our part, we'll see change. I really believe that. Thank you to my team for their incredible support and hard work this weekend and thank you to everyone who supported it. Let's keep pushing, guys. See you next week. Love," Hamilton concludes his message.
