Max Verstappen has had a big dent in his way towards the world title. The Dutchman dropped out during the first race of the season and is therefore immediately lagging far behind. Luckily he wasn't the only one who made a mistake.

''Verstappen was released with the fright, because Lewis Hamilton didn't score the full points either'', says Jan Lammers at the Formula 1 podcast of the NOS. Opposite Motorsport.com the former F1-driver even goes one step further. ''Hamilton molested his weekend on Saturday by a mistake and he was also very sloppy. The sequel on Sunday wasn't crazy''.

Lammer surprises

In the podcast Lammers indicates that the chances for Verstappen are not immediately lost. ''Mercedes will come around and if not, you have to accept that too. I do expect that Red Bull will be strong and will be able to retaliate in Austria'', says the Dutchman, who was surprised by what Verstappen said.

''On the medium band I think he had it perfect and he seemed on his way to victory. However, after the race he surprised me by saying it had become difficult. I thought they were faster in racetrim, but Verstappen says something like that for a reason'', concludes Lammers.
