Ricciardo surprised with P3: "We have a good basis for Sunday"

For Daniel Ricciardo, the second free practice went very well. The Australian managed to drive his Renault to third place, ahead of Max Verstappen. The driver has good hopes for the rest of the weekend, he says in the press release of his own team.
"In the morning session we were mainly collecting data, so we knew that the times in that session wouldn't be entirely representative. In the afternoon session we first had a warm-up, after which we made some changes to the car," Ricciardo explains.
Good basis for Sunday
"Those changes went very well in the end and it felt good. We had a good run on the hardest tyre and then also on the softest tyre. In the end, I think we still had some time on the softest tyre because there's certainly still something to be gained there". With that softest tyre, Ricciardo finally managed to set the third-fastest time.
"Our long runs also looked good, so we have a good basis now for Sunday. I think the weather conditions are going to change and I think the wind direction is going to change as well. We will see what an extra that will bring on Saturday. In general, Friday has been good for us," Ricciardo concluded.
