Tom Coronel thinks Max Verstappen can make the Mercedes difficult again next Sunday when the Grand Prix of Spain is scheduled. Moreover, according to the analyst the chance of a world title has not yet been lost to Red Bull Racing.

"Because he won at Silverstone, and I emphasize very consciously, but then he could also compete for the victory in Barcelona. The tyre factor is normally even greater there," Coronel starts talking to Motorsport.com. According to the WTCR driver, Barcelona is one of the toughest circuits for the tyres. "That's one of the reasons why Max won his first race there."

Just like Helmut Marko, Coronel doesn't want to rule out a first world championship for Verstappen after five Grands Prix races. "Personally, I always look at things in a positive light. It's certainly not over for Max in that respect, absolutely not. He's second in the world championship and, as I said, he already retired once, that says enough anyway".

Red Bull does not give up

Besides, it's not in Red Bull's DNA to give up the fight prematurely. The Austrian race team will continue to fight until the last minute. "They'll never rest at Red Bull though, they'll keep going for Max's chances right up to the last race, or rather to the very last corner of the very last lap," he concludes.
