International media after Gasly's victory: "It's a liberation"

The international media saw Pierre Gasly take full advantage of the chaos at the Italian Grand Prix. The foreign press was impressed by the Frenchman's mental resilience and the fact that Gasly was able to give France another victory after such a long time.

Auto, Motor und Sport (Germany)

"The 53 laps have turned the field completely upside down. After a Grand Prix full of tests, penalties, accidents, a safety car and a red flag, the pole-sitter finished in seventh place. An error by Hamilton and the Mercedes command post led to a penalty and robbed Hamilton of his 90th GP-winning. Instead, AlphaTauri cheered, as they did in 2008 when Sebastian Vettel gave the team - then known as Toro Rosso - a sensational success at Monza. Twelve years later Pierre Gasly celebrated his first win."

Sky Sports (Great Britain)

"Incredibly, AlphaTauri - Red Bull's second' team - is the first team since 2013 to beat Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull for victory. Pierre Gasly caused a shock in modern Formula 1 by winning his first race for AlphaTauri after a hugely dramatic and incident-filled Italian GP in which Lewis Hamilton only finished seventh after a time penalty. Gasly stayed less than a second ahead of McLaren's Carlos Sainz in a tense final to seize a momentous and emotional victory on a day when the top teams made or fell out of mistakes."

L'Equipe (France)

"Olivier Panis (finally) has a successor! A sentence we feared we would never be able to write, but which finally became reality this Sunday in Monza. Pierre Gasly won at the age of 24, becoming the thirteenth Frenchman to win in Formula 1. So Pierre will be rewarded after so many blows to his career, for example, his relegation from Red Bull to Toro Rosso during the summer vacations in 2019. His podium finish in Brazil last November already made him very happy, but what can we say about this success in Monza? It is a liberation."

La Gazetta Dello Sport (Italy)

"Pierre Gasly won in an Italian GP that went in several directions. The Frenchman from AlphaTauri made his pit stop at the right time, so the safety car, the red flag, and the other events in the race turned out extremely well for the 24-year-old driver. Gasly remained Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll. They ended up on the podium in a surreal Grand Prix."

AS (Spain)

"Gasly breaks through a huge drought in French motor racing. Pierre doesn't just give up and has already overcome a lot of obstacles. It has only made him stronger."
