Alexander Albon is feeling increasingly comfortable in Red Bull Racing's 2020 car. This is what Max Verstappen's teammate reports in an online press session from the Austrian racing team. The pupil of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko is relieved that an upward trend as appeared in recent weeks.

"Each car has its quirks and it's just being confident really," said Albon, who will start Sunday's race from the second-row. Meanwhile, the British Thai feels a lot more comfortable in the RB16. "Once the pace improves it's pretty simple."

Trust with the Red Bull driver

Albon continues to explain: "A good example is this weekend. In FP1 and FP2, on a track like this, you need a lot of confidence because it's one of those high-speed circuits where when you throw the car in you need to know it will stick. In qualifying that's what I felt. I thought 'this is feeling good' and then the pace just comes."

According to Albon, a lot of time has gone into understanding the car. "It's working with the team and getting comfortable with the car. At points, you just have to get on with it and drive. And that's where Max is very quick. He's experienced as well in his sixth year now with the team and I'm getting there. Working with the team and people around me, it's getting there," he continues.

Albon is more consistent

Albon took a big step forward during the last Grands Prix at Spa and Monza. "Spa and Monza really felt like a step forward with the understanding of what I need personally to go faster. It's getting that positivity each weekend with something to build on and have the consistency. The last two weekends have been a step forward and that's positive rather than up and downs in the weekends and race to race," he added.
