Red Bull Racing will not only have to look for a new engine supplier, it will also be looking for a new driver for the seat next to Max Verstappen. Although the team is satisfied with Alexander Albon to the outside world, he has still not been confirmed for 2021.

Rumour has it that Sergio Perez and Nico Hülkenberg, both now veterans in the F1 field, are being spoken to. Verstappen tells Motorsport-Total.com that experience can sometimes be advantageous for the team. "I understand the car much better now than in my first year. Of course I understand Formula 1 a little better [than Albon]."

Red Bull stays behind Albon

However, he does not want to lose his current teammate in public either. "Yes, it's probably true that a driver with ten years experience in Formula 1 knows more, but I think the team is satisfied with Alex's feedback," the Red Bull driver adds quickly.

According to Verstappen, the complexity of Formula 1 shouldn't be exaggerated either. Explaining to the team what is going on with the car is not that complicated at all in his opinion. "Understeer, oversteer, that's easy to explain. And if there are new parts, we both want the same thing."
