Weather forecast: Small chance of rain at Imola?
- GPblog.com
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will be held for the first time this weekend, with Formula 1 returning to the legendary Imola circuit for the first time since 2006. What kind of weather can we expect this weekend?
The circuit of Imola was used for the last time in Formula 1 in 2006, when it was still going through life as the GP of San Marino. The Italian Grand Prix name was already in use, just like this year, so Imola had to choose a different Grand Prix name. That has become Emilia Romagna, the region where Imola is located in Italy.
Weather helps at Imola
New and recurring circuits have already created a lot of spectacle in Formula 1 this season and Imola can be expected to do the same. Overtaking may not be too easy, but with gravel pits on the edge of the trac, every mistake made by the drivers will be punished. The weather will be to the advantage of the drivers and the teams.
Indeed, Weather.com predicts a weekend in which Saturday and Sunday will be eighteen degrees and it will be alternately cloudy and sunny. For both days there is only a ten percent chance of rain. With that one free practice, however, there will be enough unfamiliarity for the teams, who will not be able to change the whole setup for qualifying on Friday evening.
