Alexander Albon seems to have lost his seat at Red Bull Racing for 2021, the only question that remains is who will fill it. George Russell, Sergio Perez or Nico Hulkenberg? Bernie Ecclestone thinks he knows.

Albon has been under pressure at Red Bull for a year and a half and seems to be losing that battle. The Thai cannot live up to the towering expectations and so it is time for another driver. In conversation with Sport1.de, Ecclestone is asked about the arrival of Hulkenberg. Is the German the ideal successor of Albon?

Hulkenberg to Red Bull?

''Yes, I know him well. He is fast, smart and always says what he thinks. He is not like other drivers who do exactly what is asked of them. Red Bull should take him, because such a type fits Red Bull," says the birthday boy Ecclestone. The Brit turned 90 today.

''The most important thing is that Nico can deliver the result, because he is mentally very strong. That's also necessary if you want to drive alongside Max Verstappen, because the boy is a real force of nature," concludes the former boss of Formula 1. Red Bull wants to give more clarity about the 2021 line-up in the coming weeks, so we'll have to wait and see.
