Who is the greatest driver of all time? One driver after another discusses this question now that Lewis Hamilton has secured his seventh world title. Now it is the turn of David Coulthard.

Record after record

Most victories, most points, most pole positions, most podium finishes. Hamilton strings all the records together. Only the record for most fastest laps is still in the name of Michael Schumacher. They are equal in world titles, but it wouldn't surprise anyone if that record goes down next year.

The question of who is really the best will never get a definitive answer. Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard thinks there is little difference between the two. "If Michael were racing today, he would be staring into the eyes of his equal. There is no doubt about that," GPfans.com quotes from a Coulthard interview with Stats Perform News.

The real deal

Coulthard thinks that Schumacher and Hamilton should be mentioned in the same breath. "That is because I think Michael is exceptional and I think Lewis is also exceptional." According to Coulthard, how he managed to win the race in Turkey and won his title with style was particularly impressive. "So nobody doubts that he is the real deal and that he is not only one of the best drivers of his generation but one of the best drivers in the history of the sport."
