Alexander Albon hit the wall hard during the second free practice session and wrote off his car completely. His mechanics will need to work overnight to get his Red Bull ready in time for the third free practice and qualifying.

Frustrating

Christian Horner is disappointed by the crash of Albon. "It's frustrating, but thankfully Alex is okay, that's the main thing," he said on Sky Sports F1. There is therefore a lot of damage to the Thai's car. “There is a lot of superficial damage, but the monocoque and engine look good. It will certainly keep the boys busy tonight."

Besides a lot of work, such a crash also costs a lot of money. "It's hard to quantify, but it's a significant amount," says Horner. There is damage to the front and rear wing and the nose.

Put it out of his mind

For the rest of the weekend, there is only one thing that Albon has to do. "He just has to try to get it out of his mind," said his team boss. “In Istanbul and this weekend so far his feeling with the car is getting better and better. His feedback is consistant with Max." So his crash came at a very bad time. “Hopefully, tomorrow's another day. I'll have a chat with him in 10 minutes or so."
