Jos Verstappen competes with his son Max: "Frustrating"
- GPblog.com
Jos Verstappen doesn't race professionally anymore, but still likes to get into a racing car for fun and excitement, but finds it frustrating when he is slower than his son Max Verstappen.
Jos sets Max as his goal
In conversation with David Coulthard in a YouTube video of Carnext.com, the 'Verstappens' discuss everything that has to do with racing. Coulthard states that Max is faster than his father and wonders what that feels like for the former F1 driver.
Jos Verstappen: "It is frustrating. I know I can drive better than I am doing now during practice. Since I have been training again, I don't really have a goal anymore. Okay, of course it is a goal to get closer to him," Jos says, pointing to his son.
Jos can get closer!
"When I really have a goal and I am physically fit enough for it, I can still find half a second," Jos continues. "I think I'm just more than half a second slower than he is.
"They do it so much easier. When we were young you used to jump in the car and just drive fast, but now you really have to work for it. You have to keep looking and use all your experience to get close.
"It's the way of braking, I can't figure out how they do it," concludes Verstappen senior.
