Wolff dissatisfied: "Our long runs just weren't good. We were nowhere"

Mercedes topped the timesheet on Friday ahead of the Sakhir Grand Prix without Lewis Hamilton. His replacement George Russell was the fastest man on the track in both free practice sessions.

Still, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is not satisfied with the result. He stated to Sky Deutschland that he mainly feared the long-run pace of Red Bull Racing.

Wolff not happy about Friday

"Our long runs just weren't good. We were nowhere," says Wolff. "Compared to Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon, Russell's time was just not good enough."

Despite this, Wolff is positive about Russell. "It's his first day with the team and he has done a very good job. You have to respect that. "

Valtteri Bottas was less successful today, but Wolff seems to think differently about that. "In his fastest lap on the softs, he was three tenths faster than Russell. That time was cut because he went too wide, but he didn't benefit from it, "Wolff said.
