Martin Brundle criticised Verstappen last week after his crash in Bahrain, but the former F1-driver now has nothing but praise for the Dutchman.

The final pole position of the year was set to be between Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. The Finn will have thought for a moment that he could start from P1 tomorrow, until Max Verstappen crossed the line and surprised everyone with his time.

According to Martin Brundle, this will have been a surprise for the Mercedes team. "The drivers at Mercedes only had an eye for each other and Max made clever use of that. He struck at exactly the right moment. That must have been a huge shock for Mercedes, because it's the first time in the current era that they don't start from pole here," said Brundle on Sky Sports F1.
