F1 World Championship 2020 final result: Verstappen very close to beating Bottas
It is almost Christmas and the 2020 Formula 1 season is finally over. In a year that was seriously disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, F1 eventually managed to complete a decent calendar. The title was an easy win for Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen was able to follow Valtteri Bottas well for a long time. Without retirements, there's a strong chance the Dutchman would've beaten Bottas to second-place. Of all the races he did finish, the Dutchman missed out on the podium just once, and with that he ends up only nine points behind the Finn.
Behind that is the title "best of the rest" for Sergio Perez. He did drop out in Abu Dhabi and all his competitors took points, but the lead he had built up with the victory in Bahrain proved enough.
