With the arrival of Mick Schumacher in Formula 1 in 2021, the eyes are on the young German. After all, he is the son of seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher and many have already spoken of how unfortunate it is that he cannot be at his son's debut. However, the arrival of the young Schumacher is also a reminder of the tragedy of Michael's accident, explained Ross Brawn, who worked with Schumacher as technical director at Benetton and Ferrari.

Very special

"Of course it's going to be exciting, especially with Mick, for whom I have a lot of enthusiasm and passion," said Brawn in the F1 Nation podcast. "It will be good", but the rise of Mick Schumacher also reminds Brawn "of the tragedy of Michael's accident. It is hoping and praying for him."

"How nice would it have been if Michael could have been a part of it? I mean, none of us know how much Michael can understand. But if he could have been a part of it - let's hope and pray that one day he could be there. That would be very, very special."

A lot of responsibility

Mick Schumacher has a good CV, but what can be both a curse and a blessing is his last name. The surname Schumacher carries a lot of weight, but Brawn has every confidence in the youngster. "Mick is doing a great job under these circumstances and with this famous name. He opens doors, but he also carries a lot of weight."

"I really hope that Mick can be successful," concluded Brawn on the new Haas driver.
