Autosport Awards
There are a total of six different categories in which an Autosport Award is presented. Lando Norris won the award in the British Competition Driver of the Year category and Lewis Hamilton was crowned International Racing Driver of the Year. The awards are intended for British drivers who compete in categories at an international level. Previous winners include Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Martin Brundle and David Coulthard.
First victory
Lando Norris says he is very happy with the award. "It's my first win of the year, which is great! Big thank you for all the support and I'll keep trying to enjoy my life in Formula 1 and entertaining everyone.” His first podium finish in Austria was the highlight of the season for Norris.
Norris drove his second season in Formula 1 this year and finished ninth in the championship. "I feel I improved my weaknesses from last year this season, but there are still some small things, such as nailing the qualifying laps every weekend.” Next season he will be driving for McLaren together with Daniel Ricciardo.
