Jan Lammers is looking forward to the upcoming Formula 1 season. He hopes Max Verstappen will now finally have a real shot at the world championship. Also, the Dutchman thinks that Hamilton is not always appreciated.

World title for Verstappen?

"Of course I hope for a titanic battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in Formula 1 this year," Lammers opens his column in De Telegraaf. However, there is one important question attached to that, according to the former Formula One driver: "Has Red Bull Racing taken a step in the right direction, or is Mercedes' progress once again unparalleled?"

Hamilton's disadvantage

According to Lammers Verstappen is a natural talent, just like Hamilton. This was already known before they stepped into Formula 1. Yet Hamilton is not always seen as talented as he really is says Lammers. "His 'disadvantage' is that he has been driving the best car for years, so the viewer has a somewhat distorted view when you talk about his talent."
