Although Dan Ticktum was sidelined by Red Bull's junior programme in 2019, the young Briton has not given up on his Formula One dream. In 2021, he will embark on his second season in Formula 2 and will do so for a team he can win the title with.

On Wednesday it was announced that he will be riding for the Carlin team next season. The team with which Yuki Tsunoda finished third in the championship last season. Ticktum himself finished 11th for the DAMS team and scored a victory at Silverstone.

Ticktum goes for the title

"Carlin proved they had a race-winning car towards the end of last season and I really want to capitalise on that and mount a strong championship challenge from the start. I can’t wait to get the season underway", said an enthusiastic Ticktum in a team press release.

Ticktum is still best known as the driver who in Formula Renault once deliberately threw an opponent off the track and was suspended for a year for doing so. Last season he was in trouble again when he threatened on social media after a fight with Louis Deletraz to 'crash' into him next time. According to Ticktum, that comment was taken out of context.
