Sainz on first meeting with Ferrari fans: 'That's a good start'

Last week Ferrari tested their 2018 car for five days at Fiorano. Not only young drivers like Callum Ilott and Mick Schumacher got the chance to drive an F1 car, but also the experienced drivers got a chance to get warm again. For Carlos Sainz, the test day was also very important, because for the first time the Spaniard got to drive the Italian car on the track.

For Sainz it was not only the first time with a Ferrari car on the track, but also the first encounter with Ferrari fans. There were dozens who wanted to see Sainz in a Ferrari car for the first time. After the test session the Spaniard, to the surprise of the fans present, stopped by to have a chat with the spectators.

"There were two banners that I saw. It said 'Vamos Carlos' and 'Smooth Operator'. So the people here in Italy and the Tifosi know my name and my preferences for certain names. That's definitely a good start," Sainz said according to Motorsport-Total.com

"At the end of the day I had the opportunity to come and say hi, so I took the car and thanked them for coming and supporting me on this special day, to share a bit of passion too," the Spaniard concludes.
