Hamilton signs contract: "Determined to continue making motorsport more diverse"
Lewis Hamilton will be back in action for Mercedes in 2021. The British driver, who won his seventh F1 world title in 2020, is looking forward to hunting for his eighth world title in Formula 1 in 2021.
We had to wait a long time for it, but Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton finally confirm the news. The 36-year-old signs a one-year deal with Mercedes, and will therefore push to get an eighth title for Mercedes with Valtteri Bottas. He will also try to become the first-ever F1 eight-time Champion of the World.
Hamilton stays for another year
"I am excited to be heading into my ninth season with my Mercedes teammates," Hamilton said in the statement.
"Our team has achieved incredible things together and we look forward to building on our success even further, while continuously looking to improve, both on and off the track.
"I'm equally determined to continue the journey we started to make motorsport more diverse for future generations and I am grateful that Mercedes has been extremely supportive of my call to address this issue. I'm proud to say we are taking that effort further this year by launching a foundation dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the sport. I am inspired by all that we can build together and can't wait to get back on the track in March," the Mercedes driver concluded.
