Harsh conclusions in Germany: 'Only one worse than Vettel is Mazepin'

After a disastrous 2020, Sebastian Vettel 's 2021 season is also off to a poor start, to say the least. The four-time world champion was slower than Lance Stroll all weekend on his debut for Aston Martin, and also committed a huge gaffe during the race.
In his difficult last year at Ferrari the blame was put on Mattia Binotto and his team, especially in the German media. Our eastern neighbours can no longer hide behind this and so Vettel now has to face the same fate in his homeland.
Lack of self-criticism blamed on Vettel
The criticism of former F1 driver and analyst Marc Surer is not mild. Motorsport-Total.com Surer is not insignificant. He gives Vettel in his assessment the same mark as Nikita Mazepin. Both drivers get the absolute bottom score from the Swiss. "It was not his weekend", the conclusion reads.
That he was slow is one thing. That he caused a clumsy collision with Esteban Ocon makes it worse, but Vettel's comments were the last straw. " That radio message afterwards was even more shameful than the collision itself," said Surer.
