This year the chances for a world title in the name of Max Verstappen finally seem to exist. In an interview, the Dutchman explained how missing out on a junior title will not stand in his way of winning the Formula 1 world title.

"You don't have to win every fight or every race. But that's the nature of it. Just because I haven't won a title doesn't mean I don't understand," Verstappen said in an interview with Autosport Magazine.

"I've only had one try to win the Formula 3 title. Yeah, it didn't work out," explained the Dutchman, arguing that the mindset with which you compete for a title is not unfamiliar to him. "Once you've been in that position of having a car to win titles in, it makes things a lot easier."

Pressure is present

The Red Bull racer also knows that there is a lot of pressure on his shoulders again this season. "Of course there is this pressure to win a title because you fight with other drivers. But I think it's better to be in a situation like that than not."

On the contrary, Verstappen believes that the pressure makes him perform better: "Because I think that then I can be even better. Because it's much nicer and you can deal with it better."
