Ferrari seem to have found their way back to the top of Formula 1. They still have a long way to go, but the first two Grands Prix of the season went well after a dramatic 2020. Team boss Mattia Binotto looks back on the first two races with satisfaction.
Strong start for Leclerc and Sainz
In the first two races of 2021 Ferrari have managed to score a total of 34 points. New recruit Carlos Sainz seems to be getting up to speed already and can keep up with his teammate Charles Leclerc in the race. For Binotto these are enough reasons to be satisfied with the start of 2021.
"It is a relief that we are developing in the right direction. It is important to see that the simulations in the wind tunnel now match what is happening on the track better than before," said Binotto at Motorsport.com. "We have often said that our performance last year was not acceptable for a brand like Ferrari."
The battle with McLaren for P3
In 2021, the Italian team looks set to battle it out with McLaren for the third spot. Binotto reveals that the third spot is not necessarily an aspiration, but is pleased with the progression the team has made to be able to compete.
