Perez enjoys watching Verstappen: 'He performs week in, week out'

Sergio Perez is new to Red Bull Racing in 2021 but has already shown some great things. The Mexican wants more and is also positive about his new teammate; Max Verstappen.
After two years in which Verstappen had no opposition from Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly, Perez managed to win the qualifying duel in Imola. This marked the first time in over two years that the Dutchman was beaten in qualifying by his teammate. Perez does, however, have a lot of respect for Verstappen.

''We all know the level of Max. He is a huge talent, a very complete driver with a lot of experience. He is in his place in this team and performs week in week out'', Perez says according to De Telegraaf. ''I have to adapt now. Look, if you don't have a good car, you start driving differently. Then you take certain things into account. Now I am developing again as a driver with a much better car.''
Perez knows he is not yet at his top level, but hopes to show Red Bull Racing more soon. ''I have to make sure I don't leave anything out and give everything for the team. If I can do that, I'll be happy. I have to get used to the team and they to me. That always takes some time. My ultimate goal is clear: I want to be champion'', concludes the Mexican.
