Leclerc left feeling frustrated with himself: "I've just not been good enough"
Charles Leclerc will start the 2021 Portuguese Grand Prix from eighth place, three grid spots behind his new teammate Carlos Sainz. The man from Monaco made his own frustrations clear in his post-session interviews.
The Ferrari car impressed during practice, and perhaps even more so when Leclerc reached Q3 by using the medium tyres in the middle qualifying session. But Leclerc is left feeling disappointed.
"I've just not been good enough. I haven't driven the way I wanted and have been inconsistent throughout qualifying," Leclerc told Sky Sports.
Windy conditions
"The windy was tricky but that's the same for everyone and I should have done a better job. I'm happy with Q2 because we made it through with the medium but I didn't do a good enough job in Q3," he added.
"We are starting with the medium tyres which is good. And we are the first ones in our battle starting on the mediums. So hopefully we don't lose many positions in the first laps because they are difficult to warm up."
