Nikita Mazepin was criticised last Sunday for his sudden manoeuvre while overtaking Mick Schumacher. The Haas driver has also been off the track several times this season. Nevertheless, Mazepin feels at home in Formula 1.

The Russian driver said in a conversation with Sports.ru that he gets on well with his teammate. "Mick and I have known each other for a long time. Now we are in a difficult situation, and the only people who can catch up all weekend - either he or I are. So maybe this is the hunger after a year of an interesting battle in Formula 2."

"Personally, I always try to use the approach of 'personal relationships stay off the track' in competition with other racers, and even with one team," he continued. "I think I'm a simple and well-mannered guy, so I've always had good relationships off the track with all the racers. But on the track we are professionals. We work hard and let the spectators see the races they want. The public definitely doesn't want to watch boring races."

Standings in world championship

Mazepin and Schumacher have failed to score any points so far. George Russell and Nicholas Latifi also failed to do so.
