Max Verstappen closed the Friday in Austria off very well. In the preparation for the Styrian Grand Prix, the Dutchman managed to get his Red Bull Racing car into first place in both FP1 and FP2.

Verstappen knows Hamilton can be faster

"Yes, during the second free practice the fastest time of Lewis was removed. So it looks a bit different than what you see now. I think overall it was very good for us. There are some things we need to look at obviously, but I'm happy with where the car is at the moment," Verstappen told Sky Sports F1.

Verstappen had a great morning and the afternoon went even better he says. "I started pretty well, but there are always things that can be better. There are always things you can work on and that's what we're looking at, but overall it was very positive."

Fierce battle on Saturday

But Verstappen knows Hamilton had driven a fast time that didn't count. He therefore expects the battle to be fierce again on Saturday and Sunday. "If those times are already possible in FP2, then I think it could be very exciting again," he said.
