Wolff has a clear message: 'He has to take the criticism'
Sebastian Vettel made the statement in Der Spiegel that he will vote for the German political party Die Grünen in September. It earned him a lot of criticism from Germany. Toto Wolff, however, can understand Vettel's statement.
The Mercedes team boss has been around the Formula 1 world for a while and knows what the character traits of the Aston Martin driver are. "Sebastian is someone who not only looks at sustainability, but lives by it. It's in keeping with his character that he has this attitude. I think that's absolutely fine," Wolff told BILD.
At the same time, Wolff can easily understand the criticism from the outside world. "Of course, it is sometimes a tightrope act to fly around the world as a Formula 1 driver, to operate these monster machines and at the same time to say that you vote green," says the team boss, who has a clear message for Vettel. "He has to take the criticism."
Position Vettel in the world championship
Vettel is tenth in the world championship with 30 points gained for now. His gap with Pierre Gasly, who is one place higher in the standings, is 9 points. Daniel Ricciardo is 10 points ahead of the German.
