For some time now Haas and Mick Schumacher have been discussing a contract for 2022 with the rearguard team. Although there is still no white smoke from Haas and Mick Schumacher, there is now confirmation from Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto; Schumacher will drive for Haas in 2022.

Seeing what Schumacher has up his sleeve

Binotto does the revelation at RTL Deutschland, so quote Speedweek.com. "In his season at Haas 2022, I see a great opportunity for Mick to show what he really has to offer. We know what talent is latent in him and we are happy with his development." Schumacher will drive for ailing Haas this season, which has set its sights on 2022 and sees this season as a transition year.

Binotto also just confirmed what the ultimate goal is for the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. "The long-term goal for Mick is clear, he is being trained to drive for Ferrari one day. But first, he has to learn quietly. It would be wrong to put pressure on him. Even though we expect a lot from him."

Scoring points seems an almost impossible task for Schumacher this season. A twelfth place in the Hungarian Grand Prix is his best result so far. He does however almost always beat teammate Nikita Mazepin, both in the race and in qualifying.
