Half points can only be awarded in Formula 1 after two full laps have been driven, but online several people have noted that according to the rules, in the event of red flags, the official results of the previous lap take precedence, meaning that the race ended on lap 1 and therefore no points can be awarded.

Update | Points for sure

Nobody has to worry about losing points. The sporting regulations state that: "The points can be awarded points because the leader has crossed the control line three times. The leader has thus met the requirement to have completed more than two laps for half points."

Update II | Wolff discusses the situation

The control line is therefore seen as the finish line, but the result is not yet completely certain. In his press interview with Motorsport-Magazin, Toto Wolff commented: "We've seen a podium, so there's a result. There's a lot of rules there you have to look at, but I think if there's a podium, there is a result."

Journalist Chris Medland thinks that several teams will ask questions about the situation that has arisen.
