It has been speculated for a long time, but now Formula 1 has presented the final calendar for the 2022 season. As expected, next year will see a record number of 23 races. New on the calendar is the Miami Grand Prix, which will become the second race in the United States.

Return of old tracks

Compared to the past two seasons, a number of Grands Prix are back on the calendar which were unable to take place because of the coronavirus pandemic. In 2022, races will once more be held in Australia, Canada and Japan. Australia will, however, no longer be the opening race of the season. Bahrain will remain the opening race of the season, where the second test week will also be held. The first test week will be held at the Barcelona circuit.

Singapore or Turkey

Initially the Singapore Grand Prix will remain on the calendar but because of doubts about this race there was a vote whether the spot on the calendar would stay with Singapore or go to Turkey. In this vote Singapore emerged as the favourite and secured its place on the calendar.
