Helmut Marko doesn't believe Max Verstappen will not care if he wins the world title or not. The Dutchman always remains very calm, but according to Marko he also had to leave a lot behind to achieve this.

'It won't change my life', was Verstappen's sober comment when asked whether or not winning the world title will affect his life. However, the Red Bull Racing driver has already come a long way, and his mentor does not believe Verstappen will be unaffected by missing out on the title.

Importance of Verstappen

''Life goes on, that's for sure, but the world title is something very, very important for him - and for us. We've been chasing the world title for a while now. It would be a big disappointment for Max if he didn't take it. We have more race wins. There was already a certain superiority, but it's not reflected in the score'', Marko also stressed Red Bull's bad luck.

Asked if the team or the driver will make the difference, the Austrian is very clear. ''The driver. First of all, both teams need to be as faultless as possible. Which Mercedes and us have failed to do so far. The mistakes in terms of strategy, preparation and pit stops are minimal. So the whole package has to be right. But you see Bottas having a good day here and there and sitting upfront. The same goes for Perez, but nobody can keep up with the two top drivers. So it's the driver who makes the difference'', concludes the Red Bull Racing advisor in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport.
