Lewis Hamilton has to answer to the stewards shortly after the first free practice in Mexico. Race direction launched an investigation into the Briton after he failed to adhere to track limits on Friday morning.
Hamilton under investigation for breach of track limits
In the early stages of the first free practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Hamilton went straight through at Turn 1, forcing him over the grass before getting back on track at the entry to Turn 3. Hamilton said over the radio that he 'couldn't slow down there', while a number of drivers seemed to be struggling with the dusty conditions early in the session.
However, when he returned to the track, Hamilton failed to stay on the left side of the orange posts when entering Turn 3, as race director Michael Masi had instructed the drivers beforehand.
This means that the seven times world champion will have to face an investigation by the stewards. He is expected at 12:45 local time to give an explanation. After Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen will also be questioned about the same infringement.
