Top speeds of Bottas and Hamilton reveal possible DRS violation
- GPblog.com
The stewards are still investigating Lewis Hamilton's rear wing. The Mercedes driver is under investigation for a DRS violation, and could face a penalty. During the qualification an interesting fact emerged.
Valtteri Bottas and Hamilton were quite far apart in terms of top speeds on Friday. While the British driver clocked a speed of 327.5 km/h, Bottas registered 322.0. By comparison, the difference between Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen was just 0.5 in favour of the Mexican.
Red Bull Racing were already worried about Mercedes' rear wing on Friday. The Austrian racing team accused the competitor of the same fact as Mercedes did earlier this year in Baku. The race direction decided to call Mercedes to the office and ask for an explanation. The decision is still pending.
Verstappen in trouble as well?
Verstappen was also summoned by the stewards to report for duty on Saturday. The Dutchman touched the rear wing of Hamilton after qualifying and that is not allowed according to the rules.
