Although Red Bull Racing were the favourites in Brazil they still had to give way to Mercedes. Sergio Perez hopes to be stronger than Mercedes again in Qatar. For now it remains a hope, because Mercedes is on the right track.

In Brazil, Perez and teammate Max Verstappen had a strong start. The Red Bull's led the race. Perez lost P3 however to Valtteri Bottas. The Finn made his first pit stop at a very fortunate moment during the virtual safety car.

Straights hurt Red Bull

Verstappen had to give way to Lewis Hamilton on the track. Therefore Perez hopes to be strong again in Qatar. At the FIA press conference Perez says to Formel1.de:

"They were faster than us. I hope we will be faster here again." Perez feels the speed on the straights is a painful aspect of Red Bull: "It has become a trend in the last races, where they [Mercedes] have improved."
