In three races Valtteri Bottas has to say goodbye to Mercedes with whom he won the constructors' title four years in a row. Leaving with a fifth title on the bill would be a nice farewell.

Five titles for Bottas?

Mercedes has been lord and master of Formula 1 for years, but is facing fierce opposition from Red Bull Racing in 2021. After the Brazilian race, the Mercedes team thinks they can take the title again. Bottas is at least hoping for the fifth title in a row during his time with the team.

At the FIA press conference for the Qatar GP the Finn declared to Formel1.de: "Five in a row is better than four. Brazil was a very positive surprise in terms of our pace."

Qatar remains a question mark, however, but as long as it's a fast track, Mercedes doesn't have much to fear. Bottas: "When it comes to new circuits you can only guess. Normally fast circuits are not bad for us, but we will see further tomorrow."

Rookie teammate in 2022

In 2022, the Finn will continue his career with Alfa Romeo. There he will drive alongside the only rookie of the season, Guanyu Zhou. The Finn is looking forward to it and says he will try to help the rookie where possible: "We have to work together as a team. I have left it up to Fred [Vasseur, ed.]. I trust that. He knows what's best for the team."
