Damage to front wing Verstappen? "Stay off the kerbs for now"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen made a strong start to the Qatar Grand Prix, immediately gaining three places from P7. Within a few laps, the Dutchman arrived in second place, behind Lewis Hamilton. However, the Red Bull Racing driver reported a possible problem with his front wing so will have to be extra careful until the pit stops.
Verstappen had a moment where he almost seemed to lose control of his Red Bull car. He then asked on the team radio if he might have damage to his front wing, which was confirmed by his engineer Gianpiero Lambiase.
Damage to Verstappen's front wing?
Lambiase told Verstappen to stay off the kerbs as much as possible because it looks like there might be damage to the endplates of his front wing, as can be seen in the picture below.
A few laps later the possible damage doesn't seem to have a dramatic influence for the Dutchman. However, he will need to drive a little more conservatively in his first stint, so Red Bull can replace the front wing at the first pitstop if necessary.
