Pierre Gasly has grown into a strong, experienced driver at AlphaTauri. Of the 112 points the team from Faenza has scored up to the Qatar Grand Prix, 92 have been scored by the former teammate of Max Verstappen. AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost still sees his driver growing.

The highlight for Gasly so far was his unforgettable win at Monza, but according to Tost he has grown again since that moment. This is mainly reflected in his technical knowledge of the car. "Pierre always increases the level of his performance," said the 65-year-old Austrian according to Formel1.de.

He continued: "If you compare him now to the beginning of the season, he has made another big step forward in terms of understanding the technical side of the car. That shows how much he has grown and how well he understands the technical part of such complicated cars and engines."

AlphaTauri must gain ground on Alpine

AlphaTauri is in a battle with Alpine for fifth place in the constructors' championship, in which the French racing team is in the best position after the Qatar Grand Prix. "At the moment, in my opinion, our car is faster than the Alpine," stated Tost.

"We have two fantastic drivers and the team is doing a great job, but you never know what is going to happen. Alpine has scored so many points at the Hungaroring and in Qatar, that means everything can change in a race," said the Austrian. The impressive third and fifth place finishes of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon respectively in Qatar mean AlphaTauri have twenty-five points to make up on their rivals at Alpine.
