Max Verstappen is pleased with the decision that Red Bull Racing will continue with Sergio Perez for longer. The Austrian racing team came out with the news a week and a half ago and will have the full support of the reigning world champion.

It has been known for some time that Verstappen and Perez get along well. The Mexican is performing better and better at Red Bull and is still only fifteen points behind his teammate this season. According to the Dutchman, the racing stable is therefore taking a wise decision, he tells Viaplay.

"I think it is good for the team to continue with each other for longer and that there is not always a question mark lingering. In the end, it's better for everyone," judged Verstappen, who himself had no say during the decision. "It's about the team and the people at the top decide that."

Perez performs well in Azerbaijan

After Perez's victory in Monaco, he showed during the first two free practice sessions in Baku that he was in good form. The Mexican outperformed Verstappen with consecutive first and second-place finishes. On Saturday afternoon, the latter driver will nevertheless attempt to take pole position.
