At a time when difference of between the cars' performance have - according to some - been finally marginalised, another drastic change in the rule book awaits in 2026, that will potentially change the pecking order again. Moreover, Red Bull Racing will produce their engines in-house in partnership with Ford for the first time. In the past, a new engine supplier did not guarantee success immediately.

Will Red Bull able able to compete for wins and let alone championships with their new Red Bull Powertrains? GPblog also learnt a few months ago that the Austrian's engine project was lagging behind compared their rivals. At the moment, Max Verstappen does not care about all that, he told Motorsport.com.

"It's a completely new car and engine. It's a question mark for everyone, also for the people who think they are in the best position right now. There's always the question of whether you really did such a great job and it will stay that way," said the three-time world champion, who has previously been critical of the upcoming technical regulations.

Verstappen reflects on future in F1

Before Verstappen would revisit his future in the competition and for how many years he would like to stay in F1, he wants to wait and see how the first test go with the 2026 car on the simulator.

"Yes, that is of course also something for me to judge in 2026, whether it is fun to drive," said Verstappen, who has never made a secret of wanting to compete in endurance racing at one point of his career as well.
