Honda offers unique behind-the-scenes look at secret test with Verstappen
Honda has released unique footage of a test Max Verstappen conducted in the Acura ARX-06 GTP a few months ago. The Red Bull Racing driver piloted the IMSA car at an understated circuit near Las Vegas ahead of the F1 weekend, during which he secured his fourth world title.
Unique footage of Verstappen and Honda released
In November 2024, Max Verstappen drove the Acura ARX-06 GTP, a high-performance car typically used in the IMSA championship. This machine resembles the hypercars seen in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Verstappen wasn't alone in the experience—he was joined by six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon and IMSA driver Colin Braun, who represents Acura in the series. The Acura brand is America's performance and luxury branch of Honda, Red Bull's F1 engine supplier.
Newly released footage from Honda shows Max Verstappen receiving a detailed briefing from Colin Braun before he takes his first laps in the Acura. During a brief pit stop, the two drivers exchange insights before Verstappen continues his run at the secret test location in the Mojave Desert.
Verstappen's then-teammate Sergio Perez was also present. The Mexican piloted a Honda CRV Hybrid "Beast". Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson also drove at the circuit on behalf of sister team Racing Bulls, then under the abbreviated name VCARB. Tsudona drove a Honda-powered IndyCar, while Lawson was behind the wheel of an Acura Integra Type S DE5.
