Hill slams Verstappen: 'Lauda drove with his mind, not his fists'
One of Max Verstappen's most ardent critics, Damon Hill, has struck at the Dutchman again, and this time he does so taking advantage of a claim made by former teammate and fellow F1 champion, Alain Prost.
Prost, complimenting Verstappen's success and forthrightness, compared the Red Bull Racing driver with F1 legend, Niki Lauda: "Max is like Niki when it comes to directness, there is no doubt about that. If you asked Lauda anything, the answer was always honest. Verstappen is a very engaging man, he says what he thinks."
Hill takes advantage of Prost's comment to slam Verstappen
However, former Sky Sports pundit, has taken on his former teammate at Williams' comments to lash out at the Dutchman, responding to a Instagram post by GPblog. "I agree with that (Verstappen's forthrightness, ed.) He never misses a beat."
However, Hill then added where he thinks the Austrian F1 legend and the Red Bull Racing four time world champion are different. "But Lauda drove with his mind, not his fists".
Throughout the home stretch of the 2024 season, Red Bull Racing were overtaken by McLaren in the development race, which the Dutchman had to react to by driving defensively for the marojity of the season, which lead to various on-track incidents, with the papaya team's challenger, Lando Norris. The heated wheel to wheel moments gave pundits much to talk about, one of them being Hill, who made his thoughts on Verstappen's approach to racing very clear several times.
