Imola GP provisional starting grid | Ferrari on Red Bull's heels

Max Verstappen will start from pole position at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday. The Dutchman overtook Charles Leclerc during the sprint race for the victory after initially losing the lead on the opening lap. His Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez will start from third place.

After his poor start, Verstappen managed to stay close to Leclerc's Ferrari and in the last few laps, the Dutchman moved into DRS zone and was able to overtake his rival for the win. As a result, Verstappen will start from P1 for the second time this weekend with Leclerc next to him in second place.

Sergio Perez made some nice overtakes and will start in P3 on the second row of the grid. The Mexican also has a Ferrari next to him, as Carlos Sainz managed to come back from P10 to P4. The battle between Red Bull and Ferrari will thus continue on Sunday.

Bad start for Mercedes

McLaren also conducted good business during the sprint race and will start from the third row of the grid with both drivers. For Mercedes, though, the weekend hasn't gone to plan so far, as Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will both start outside the top ten.

Due to his crash during the sprint race, Guanyu Zhou will have to start from last place. Pierre Gasly had also hoped for a better position, but the Frenchman collided with Zhou, meaing he will begin the Grand Prix from
