Jos Verstappen has started rallying this year and he likes it. Last weekend, the former Formula 1 driver took second place in the rankings at the Monteberg Rally in Belgium. The fifty-year-old Dutchman is thoroughly enjoying himself.

The performance of Verstappen sr. is all the more impressive because he is new to the rally world and only drove together for the first time with Harm van Koppen as navigator. There were eleven special stages in total. "Yes, Harm has the control in the car and I need that. You have to get used to each other. He is in a fast car and also has to have the confidence in me and vice versa I in him. During the stages things got better and better and we are both super happy with how our cooperation went."

In the first eight stages he alternated second, third and fourth places, but in the last three races of the weekend Verstappen really came unstuck. It resulted in three victories. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the overall victory, but that should not spoil the fun. "The eventual winner lives near here and has driven this rally many times before. I think we did very well by then winning the last three stages. The more I drive and the better I get to know the stages, the better it goes," he told Verstappen.com.

For Max Verstappen's father, the last rally race was really just to practice and get used to the car and the different types of special stages. The main goal is the Ypres Rally later this year. It will be held from August 19 to 21 and is the ninth round of the World Championship.
