There is no place for Pierre Gasly at Red Bull Racing for the next two seasons. The AlphaTauri driver's contract expires after next season, so there is already intense speculation as to where the Frenchman will eventually end up in 2024. Would Mercedes be an option?

Choice

With the contract extension of Sergio Perez and of course, the presence of Max Verstappen, both Red Bull seats are occupied for the next few years. Gasly - who drives for the sister team - will therefore be faced with an important choice in the not too distant future: renew his contract again and stay longer at AlphaTauri? Or continue his career outside of Red Bull teams?

There is speculation in British media that Gasly might become Lewis Hamilton's successor at Mercedes if the seven-time champion were to retire after next season. Motorsports total checked how serious these rumours are? Naturally, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was the most important person to be asked for his opinion.

Focus on Hamilton and Russell

The Austrian indicated that he was not at all concerned about contracts in 2024, certainly not in June 2022. However, not for the first time he said he was extremely happy with Hamilton and could not imagine a better driver duo in combination with George Russell. He did not want to comment on Gasly's name, just as Wolff did not want to comment on any other driver.
